Why would we sell air purifiers?
My neighbor, God bless him, built himself a barbecue just the other side of my fence. Of course,
it had to be on my west side fence. Here in the California desert, where we live, we get a nice
evening breeze off the ocean from the west. My neighbor enjoys smoking various meat substances
in the evening. He starts with wood, saturated in kerosene. Well when that nice ocean breeze
comes up guess what comes with it? Before my neighbor moved in and built his firebox by my fence,
we had a nice backyard in the evenings. Now we cannot go out in our backyard, too hot during the
day, too smoky in the evenings.
Not only does the smoke affect our backyard, it comes in our house. Being economically minded
we use a cooler rather than air conditioning. Our house is super insulted so it stays pretty much cool
during the day. We used to use the cooler in the evening to take advantage of the nice cool evening
ocean breeze. Well things have changed; smoke is not cool breathing, no matter how cool it is. (For
those of you who say,” tell the neighbor to put out the fire", the neighbor says "too bad", the city says,
"can't do anything about it", the fire department says, "can't do anything about it".)
Anyway, we decided to try one of those Air Purifiers they used in the desert fires. We put it right up
there were the air comes in the cooler. Turn it to max output, fan on high. We turned on the cooler
and presto, the smoke disappeared. What a difference. There was a slight problem, the purifier was
to good, and we had to turn it down. A little more than half power did the trick. We had cool, fresh,
smoke free air flowing into our home in the evenings once again.
